This doctoral thesis aims to approach to the process of European integration, from the perspectives of Communication Sciences, in conjunction with the history of the Europe and the European Union, seeking its further framing within the phenomenon generally known as the "information society". The research is divided into three main parts, from which the eight chapters that comprise it develop. Thus, the first two parts aim to present and discuss the nuclear issues that we have followed in the work (European Union and Information Society), which merge in a third part, where they are analytically crossed.
