La existencia polifacética de D. António de Ataíde, 1.er Conde de Castro D’Aire y 5.º Conde de Castanheira, se relaciona de forma estrecha con los distintivos hechos que Portugal observó entre 1567 e 1647.
El presente estudio, en la parte titulada Anexos (Sección I), presenta por primera vez la transcripción de treinta y cinco manuscritos sobre la vida del 1.er Conde de Castro D’Aire y de algunos de sus familiares.
En el conjunto denominado Anexos (Sección II), se transcriben ipsis verbis ocho textos impresos relacionados con el pasaje por el globo del 5. º Conde de Castanheira.
En la parte Anexos (Sección III), se insieren trece documentos en línea, de los cuales destacamos el Anexo XII por tratarse de un escrito de la autoría de D. António de Ataíde, digitalizado y proporcionado por la Biblioteca Nacional, sobre una notable circunstancia en su larga vida, que le forzó a reaccionar de forma vehemente, justa y fundamentada.
